“I was very conscious that he was pulling from John Locke. I thought, at the end, that it would refract back to the story. There’s that scene where T’Challa comes to see Changamire, and they have this conversation and Changamire’s way of dealing with him is through history and books. He talks to him about the book American Slavery, American Freedom and what it meant, and how it might apply to the current situation. That was really important to me.”
