For over a year, European BMW users have been able to unlock their cars, find them using GPS, and set off headlights or horns using the My BMW Remote iOS app. Now, US owners will be able to get all the same features as long as they own a device with iOS 4.0 or higher and a compatible car with the BMW Assist Safety Plan. Android users will eventually have access to the same features, but although an app was supposed to be released last year, we have yet to see it in the Android Market. My BMW Remote isn't the only app that will lock and unlock your vehicle: Viper, for example, can even start cars remotely. But the service still has yet to catch on outside a few specialty markets.
