AOC’s new 35-inch curved monitor is massive

But you shouldn’t buy it unless you’re a gamer

AOC has announced a new 35-inch curved monitor built with gamers in mind. First spotted by Tech Radar, the AG352QCX features a 35-inch VA panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1080 and a 200Hz refresh rate. The monitor supports adaptive-sync technology (as well as FreeSync), features a 4ms response time, and comes with an “optimal curve radius” of 2000mm, which just means it’s slightly more curvy.

But the problem with the AG352QCX isn’t its curves, it’s the resolution at 35 inches; a 1080p resolution isn’t great by any standard. The only reason it’s acceptable is because gamers enjoy playing in full-screen mode, but for standard use, people who have used QHD or Retina display computers will easily notice pixels on that massive screen.

If you do pick up this monitor, you’ll get two USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI 2.0, a DisplayPort 1.2ad, VGA, DVI, and audio out and in ports, to go along with the very high refresh rate. The AOC AG352QCX will go on sale in Europe next month for £699.
