BioLite

BioLite just launched a Kickstarter campaign for its BaseLantern, which it's marketing as both a light for your off-the-grid campsite, as well as a phone charger. The company claims its lantern is no bigger than a sandwich, making it easy to pack. I should clarify that "sandwich" in BioLite's dictionary means two pieces of bread, lettuce, tomato, and turkey. There are two versions to allow for phone charging — one with a 7800mAh battery and the other with a 12000mAh one.

You'll probably be needing that phone charger because the BaseLantern relies on a phone to really work. Its Android and iOS companion app controls the brightness of the light, its proximity activation, and details on its power. The proximity activation pushes the lantern to turn on when you're within a certain range of it.

BaseLantern's early bird Kickstarter price starts at $79, and the company hopes to ship by October.
