Blu has released a new smartphone called the Energy XL, which the company says will last three full days on a single charge. The Energy XL is fitted with a truly massive 5,020mAh battery which Blu says is rated for 72 hours of standard usage and over 30 days of standby. In comparison, the Motorola Droid Maxx 2 — which touted a two day battery life — came with a much smaller 3,630mAh battery. Here are some other specs for the Energy XL:

  • 6.0-inch full HD Super AMOLED curved display
  • Android 5.1
  • 1.3GHz Octa Core MediaTek 6753 Processor with Mali-T720 GPU
  • 64GB of storage, expandable up to 128GB with MicroSD card
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera
  • Fingerprint scanner, USB-C quick charging

Given the sheer physical size of the battery, it's hard to argue that the Energy XL won't come close to Blu's battery life rating, but we'll report back once we get our hands on one. Blu says the smartphone will receive an update to Android 6.0 before the end of the year. The Blu Energy XL is available in gold and white on Amazon for $299, but be aware, the phone will only work on GSM-based carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile in the US.
