Nintendo's New Galaxy Style New Nintendo 3DS XL has a tongue twister of a name

Is "New Galaxy Style" a color? What does a new galaxy look like compared to an older one? Why would Nintendo release a device with "New Galaxy" in the name without a new Mario Galaxy game? These are all good questions that the new New Galaxy Style New Nintendo 3DS XL, which Nintendo released yesterday, may or may not answer for you.

The New Galaxy Style color is the first new (non-limited edition) New Nintendo 3DS XL that Nintendo has released in North America since introducing the New Nintendo 3DS XL back in February in Metallic Black and Metallic Red. And while its smaller sibling, the New Nintendo 3DS offers changeable faceplates, the New Nintendo 3DS XL is stuck with whatever color you buy it in.

Personally, I find the combination of the metallic blue / purple / comic-swirling-depths-of-infinity rather appealing. And for new New Nintendo 3DS XL buyers it’s not a bad deal, costing the same $200 as the more grounded variants.
