French erstwhile portable media player manufacturer Archos is releasing a new phone this fall called the 55 Diamond Selfie. It feels misleading because it doesn’t involve diamonds, and it doesn’t do anything to improve your selfies. A press release describes the phone as having "chic design, powerful hardware and fancy functionalities." Hm. I wonder what this fancy functionality is. Let’s see, maybe the specs have the answer:
- Qualcomm MSM8937 processor
- 4GB of RAM
- 64GB of internal storage
- 3,000mAh battery
- 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and LED flash on the back
- 8-megapixel front-facing camera
The front-facing camera comes with a screen flash option, so that’s why it’s good for selfies. Okay. What about the diamonds though?
The phone will be available for $199 in September and a "lite" version with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage will be priced at $169.90 in October.
