There are some new Pokémon games coming out in November, and Nintendo wants to make sure you’re ready for them with a new Solgaleo Lunala Black Edition New Nintendo 3DS XL model (which is almost, but still not quite as crazy of a name as the recently released New Galaxy Style New Nintendo 3DS).

For those who haven't been closely following Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, Solgaleo and Lunala are the two marquee pocket monsters in the upcoming gamines, with Solgaleo headlining the Pokémon Sun box art while Lunala is showcased on Pokémon Moon. The Solgaleo Lunala Black Edition, as the name suggests, features both pokémon outlined on the lid and back of the New 3DS XL in black and white (not be confused with Pokémon Black and Pokémon White, which are earlier games in the series that, coincidentally also had special edition DSi handhelds in both black and white).

It doesn’t actually come with a copy of either 'Pokémon Sun' or 'Pokémon Moon'

Additionally, despite prominently featuring the new pokémon on the device, the Solgaleo Lunala Black Edition New Nintendo 3DS XL doesn’t actually come with a copy of either Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon, which means that it costs the same $199.99 as any other New Nintendo 3DS XL should you for some reason want a New 3DS XL emblazoned with the new pokémon but not want to play the new Pokémon games on it. The Solgaleo Lunala Black Edition New Nintendo 3DS XL is available on October 28th, a few weeks before you’ll be able to catch Solgaleo or Lunala in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon when they release on November 18th.
