Alcatel has just announced two new additions to its budget smartphone lineup today at IFA 2017: the Idol 5 and A7.

Targeted at millennials, the Idol 5 comes with a feature called App Cloner, that duplicates social apps like Instagram and WhatsApp, allowing you to be logged in to two accounts without having to log out, which is nice. Outside of that, it’s your standard sub-$300 phone:

  • 5.2-inch full HD display
  • 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor
  • 16GB of storage, 3GB of RAM
  • 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera
  • 2,800mAh battery

The Alcatel A7 is a slightly bigger, slightly more powerful, and slightly cheaper version of the Idol 5, but without the millennial-targeted gimmicks:

  • 5.5-inch full HD display
  • 1.5GHz octa-core processor
  • 32GB of storage, 3GB of RAM
  • 16MP rear camera, 8MP front camera
  • 4,000mAh battery

Both the Idol 5 and the A7 are currently only available in Europe, but I’d expect to see these phones in the US within a few months given Alcatel’s history. You can purchase the A7 for €229 and the Idol 5 for €239 throughout Europe starting today.
