As with its predecessor, the biggest issues with the miniature SNES Classic Edition are its wired controllers and lack of a dedicated home button. Thankfully, 8bitdo is fixing both of those problems with its new wireless controller.

The new gamepad looks almost identical to the original Super Nintendo design, but with a solid dark grey front. More importantly, 8bitdo’s option comes bundled with a wireless dongle so that you don’t have to fuss with the frustratingly short cords available on Nintendo’s controllers. The third-party gamepad also includes the ability to access the SNES Classic’s main menu without having to physically hit the reset button on the console; you simply hit down and select at the same time if you want to change games or adjust the display.

There are bound to be multiple wireless options now that the SNES Classic is available (it launches today), but 8bitdo is notable because it creates some of the best retro-style gamepads around. The company’s lineup already includes wireless options for the NES Classic, the Nintendo Switch, and even the original NES and SNES hardware. The SNES Classic controllers are available on Amazon for $24.99.
