Huawei launches the Honor 7X in red for Valentine’s Day in the US

A month after the Honor 7X came to the US in black and blue, Huawei is launching the smartphone in red... because Valentine’s Day is coming up? Huawei says it’s related. It’s also running some kind of Valentine’s Day phone giveaway contest about falling in love, which I urge you not to participate in because it sounds embarrassing. I also urge you not to buy your significant other a smartphone for Valentine’s Day, because it is not romantic. But if you’re looking for an affordable smartphone for yourself or for other occasions, you could do worse than the new red model of the 7X.

The red 7X is exactly the same as the black and blue 7X models, except it’s red and really, really stands out. It has a 5.9-inch, 2160 x 1080 display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and thin top and bottom bezels. The phone has a metal body, dual rear cameras that offer a portrait mode, 32GB of storage, 3GB of RAM, and a pretty substantial 3,340mAh battery. The phone has a mid-range processor, though, and it’ll only work on AT&T and T-Mobile. It’ll sell for $200 and comes out today. That puts it in the same range as the Moto G5 Plus, which has similar specs but not the nice, nearly bezel-free design and metal body.

FYI, Valentine’s Day is in just over a week, and probably all the good restaurants are out of reservations already.

I’m including this so you can see the 7X’s display. Do not replicate this honestly kind of creepy scene for your significant other.
