The ROG Balteus is Asus’ latest mousing surface. (Obviously, such a masterwork of technology can’t be labeled as a mere pedestrian “mouse pad.”) It’s designed for gamers, and it has the added bonus of an integrated Qi charger.

Aside from the added features, the ROG Balteus also ditches the regular landscape design for a taller portrait layout. Asus says that should help players use their mice more comfortably without having to shift around the mouse pad as much. I’m not entirely sure that’s true, but at 37 centimeters tall (over 14.5 inches) by 32 centimeters wide (around 12.5 inches), it certainly seems like there will be more usable space.

There are actually two versions of the ROG Balteus: a standard version that features the 15 LED lights, and an upgraded model that adds the aforementioned Qi wireless charger to the top right corner of the mouse pad so you can charge your phone directly at your computer. Both mouse pads also feature a passthrough USB Type A port, should you want to plug in another charger or a wired mouse.

Technically, the ROG Balteus isn’t the first mouse pad to include a Qi charger. There’s the Takieso Graft Design MousePad+, which is made of soft felt and leather, as well as Corsair’s MM1000 Qi wireless charging mouse pad. But Asus seems to be the first to offer LED lighting and a Qi charger, once again proving that the march of technology will never cease to astound us all.

No pricing or release date has been announced for the ROG Balteus, but Asus says that it should be available “soon.”
