Netgear’s Arlo is continuing to expand its lineup of smart home security gear with the addition of a new smart doorbell kit that can integrate with existing Arlo cameras.

At its most basic, the Arlo Audio Doorbell will automatically call your smartphone when someone rings your doorbell, allowing you to talk to the person at your door (or have them leave a message if you’re not available). The Audio Doorbell features both a speaker and a microphone, and if you have an Arlo camera, you can add that in as well so you’ll get a video feed of your visitor, too.

For now, it doesn’t seem that Arlo is offering a smart doorbell model with an integrated camera (like those offered by competitors like Ring). You’ll have to install a camera separately if you want to vide options, and that’s something that probably sits just fine with Arlo.

The Arlo Audio Doorbell integrates directly into a regular, two-wire chime setup and runs off a pair of batteries, so it should be pretty easy to install into your existing door setup. Alternatively, Arlo is also offering a companion Smart Chime accessory to replace an existing chime. The Smart Chime pairs with the Audio Doorbell and runs off a regular wall outlet. The advantage is that you can place multiple Smart Chimes throughout your house and in rooms that the regular doorbell chime might not reach.

Netgear says that the two products should be out this fall, although it hasn’t announced a price yet for either the Audio Doorbell or Smart Chime. Interested customers can sign up on the Arlo website to get notifications for more information.
