Fortnite is by far the year’s biggest game, so it was only a matter of time before it ended up in a promotional bundle with the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo announced the bundle today, saying it will go on sale October 5th. It’ll include 1,000 V-bucks — currency you usually have to purchase in-game — along with some exclusive outfits and items. Unfortunately, the console isn’t themed in any way, like it is for the Pokémon bundle.

The bundle is not a particularly great deal, either. Recently, you’ve been able to pick up a Switch along with one of a few different games for $329. This bundle, on the other hand, includes a game that’s free to play and only $10 worth of its in-game currency, so on a direct cost comparison, you’re losing out.

You have to want exclusive items more than a good deal

Of course, that might not matter to Fortnite fans, who may be happier with the exclusive in-game outfit, glider, and pickaxe that come with the bundle. And with the holidays coming up, the Fortnite bundle could easily become the go-to pick for parents trying to choose a console for their kids to play the game on.

Fortnite creator Epic Games has offered exclusive items on various platforms in the past, but this is the first time it’s done so on the Switch. Most recently, Samsung got an exclusive skin for buyers of the Galaxy Note 9.
