HyperX has announced its cheapest wireless headset ever: the Cloud Stinger Wireless, a $99 wireless version of its budget Cloud Stinger gaming headset. It uses a 2.4GHz wireless connection, and it’s compatible with the PS4, PS4 Pro, and PC. In each case, an included USB receiver needs to be plugged into your console or computer to allow the headset to communicate wirelessly with it.
The Cloud Stinger Wireless features 17 hours of battery life, on-ear volume controls, and a noise-canceling microphone that can be automatically muted by swiveling it out of the way. It’s also a surprisingly light headset: it weighs in at 270 grams, which is five grams lighter than the existing wired version of the headset, despite the included battery that’s needed for wireless operation.
This isn’t the cheapest wireless headset you can buy for the PS4 — Sony’s official Gold Wireless Headset has a recommended price of $99, for example — but HyperX has a well-deserved reputation for making some of the best gaming headsets around. Although it’s the company’s cheapest wireless headset, the Cloud Stinger Wireless is still double the price of the standard Cloud Stinger, so you’re paying a premium to get rid of the wires. The new headset is available starting today.
