LG’s second-gen HU85LA 4K laser projector was announced last December ahead of CES, and now it’s finally available today for the eye-watering price of $5,999.
There’s no other way to slice it: that’s a lot of money for a projector. It’s twice the already-pricey $2,999 that LG charged for its original 4K laser projector, the HU80KA. But the new model is a short throw projector that can create a 90-inch projection from just two inches away (or up to a 120-inch image at 7.2 inches away).
Spec-wise, the HU85LA will offer 2,500 ANSI lumens of brightness and a 4K UHD resolution as well as USB, Ethernet, and HDMI ports for connectivity. It’ll also support both Google Assistant and LG’s ThinQ AI for voice commands, giving users plenty of options to control content.
There’s still no word on the price or release date for LG’s biggest CES announcement, the show-stopping rollable OLED TV, that the company promised would be available in the spring, which has come and gone.
