You can easily watch most of Sony’s live-action Spider-Man movies on Disney Plus if the mood strikes you. But if you’ve been yearning to see Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland’s Peters Parker back on the big screen, you’ll have a shot at catching all eight of the past Spidey films in select theaters beginning April 15th.
Aside from Batman and Superman, we don’t really know which DC superheroes will make up the foundation of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new cinematic universe of cape projects at Warner Bros. Discovery.
But the studio’s just announced its plans to produce a new live-action Teen Titans movie from writer Ana Nogueira, which — for other films — could portend the arrival of characters like Wonder Woman and the Flash as the larger franchise continues to come together.

Between the gruesome murders, supernatural resurrection, and moody quest for vengeance, director Rupert Sanders’ upcoming remake of The Crow seems like it should have all the right ingredients to appeal to fans of the original comic.
And yet, watching the movie’s new trailer, there’s something that feels kind of off — maybe it’s the Yolandi Visser cut — about Bill Skarsgård’s take on the undead vigilante. The film’s out June 7th.
It’s kind of telling how X-Men ‘97’s creator / showrunner Beau DeMayo isn’t featured in this new sizzle reel hyping up the show before its March 20th premiere, but the cast seems pretty excited to be back voicing their iconic roles.
While Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II was originally slated for an October 2025 release date, Warner Bros. has reportedly bumped the project back by a full year.

Osamu Tezuka’s 1986 manga Midnight probably hasn’t been on your radar as a series primed for a live-action adaptation, but its story about a loney taxi driver is the inspiration behind director Takashi Miike’s new 19-minute-long short film produced in collaboration with Apple and shot on an iPhone 15 Pro.
The art of turning iconic animated TV shows into legitimately good live action series and films is something Hollywood still hasn’t quite figured out. But that’s not stopping Legendary from making a live-action Naruto movie with Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton.

It feels like the first half of Invincible’s second season only just dropped, but Amazon’s already gearing up to debut the second half next month.
We’re still a few months out from the premiere of The Umbrella Academy ‘s fourth and final season, but we now know that the show’s due back on August 8th thanks to this set of style-focused posters from Netflix.

Madame Web is a love letter to the golden age of bad comic book movies
Sony’s Madame Web isn’t especially great or terrible, but it’s surprisingly committed to transporting you back to 2003 — a golden age for comic book movies that were aggressively mid or worse.
When Galaxy Express 999 and Captain Harlock creator Leiji Matsumoto passed away exactly one year ago at the age of 85, there was an outpouring of grief for the legendary manga creator.
But as quick as people were to express their respect and admiration for Matsumoto, it’s a little surprising and depressing to see him back in an ai-generated video hyping up new Galaxy Express 999 and Captain Harlock tied to the series’ upcoming 50th anniversaries.
As big a deal as it was when Franklin became the first Black Peanuts character (in the wake of Martin Luther King’s assassination, mind you), it’s been rare to see him really meaningfully involved in the lives of Charlie Brown and his other friends.
But after years of being a essentially background character, Franklin’s about to get his due in an all-new Apple TV Plus animated special out February 16th.
Is apparently a question Marvel’s What If...? is going to ask when its third season hits Disney Plus at some point in the future.
Folks were very quick to complain last November about Invincible’s second season dropping in two separate batches. But those same folks are probably going to be overjoyed to hear the show’s returning on March 14th.
Now let’s see if anyone starts appreciating how making shows takes time.
There have been so many middling spinoffs of AMC’s The Walking Dead that it has become easy to miss when a new one’s debuting.
But between the way The Walking Dead: Those Who Live’s new trailer brings Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes and Danai Gurira’s Michonne back into the picture, and makes it seem like the two will be reunited, the show might just be worth a watch when it premieres on February 25th.
Echo brings the best of Netflix’s Marvel era energy to Disney Plus
Disney Plus’ Echo limited miniseries feels like the studio’s first successful attempt at matching the energy that made Netflix’s Marvel shows great.
The first season of Disney and Marvel’s animation Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur ended with a cliffhanger that made it seem like Lunella Lafayette might be lost somewhere in the multiverse.
But in a new trailer for the animated show’s upcoming second season (out February 2nd), the young hero appears to be back in her home reality, rocking some new threads, and very ready to keep New York’s villains on their toes.
Especially in a post One Piece world, there’s always some hope of Netflix’s live-action anime / manga adaptations exceeding everyone’s expectations.
But judging from the looks of the wigs and special effects featured in the new trailer for Robot Communications’ upcoming spin on Yu Yu Hakusho, we might be in for another clunker.
Warner Bros Discovery debuted the season 2 trailer for House of the Dragon at CCXP in Brazil today. The season’s eight episodes will start streaming on Max in summer 2024.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that House of the Dragon is bringing in some new actors, as well:
The production also announced additional actors joining the show: Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf, Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne.
Amazon’s adaptation of The Boys only just got to college with its Gen V spin-off, but the streamer has already greenlit yet another expansion of the franchise — this time set in Mexico — courtesy of Blue Beetle’s Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, Diego Luna, and Gael García Bernal.
How Agatha Harkness: Darkhold Diaries will address the events of WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is anyone’s guess.
But in a new WandaVision behind-the-scenes feature reel which also includes some new Darkhold Diaries production footage), Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness appears to be back to her old seld, and messing with the kind of magic that tends to get people roped into big crossover events.
Yukinobu Tatsu’s sci-fi / action / romance manga Dandadan tells the story of two teens who are dead certain that ghosts and/or aliens are probably real.
The manga has only been publishing for a couple of years, but Science Saru’s upcoming adaptation looks like it’s going to be pretty damn slick when it drops in 2024.
The Marvels’ intriguing mid-credits sequence was yet another reminder that the X-Men are making their way to the MCU sooner rather than later.
It would have made a lot more sense, thematically, if Anna Paquin’s Rogue had popped up with a warning about the danger on the horizon. But looking at the artist Andy Park’s concept designs for an updated Beast closer to the comics, you can see why bringing Kelsey Grammer back was a solid move.
As troubled as Warner Bros. Discovery’s universe of live-action projects based on DC’s comics are, none of that drama seems to be impacting Max’s Harley Quinn which has been renewed for a fifth season.
“We must have handed out at least three thousand NDAs by now,” executive producers Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, and Dean Lorey said In a statement about keeping the renwal secret. “It was a big waste of paper.”
Not every comic book movie is getting a studio delay following the end of the actors strike. James Gunn posted on Threads today that Superman Legacy will still reboot the DC extended universe on its original planned date of July 11th, 2025.
If you need your Zac Snyder-era DCEU fix, much of it will shamble on next month on Netflix.
I missed this in theaters, but I’m excited to catch up on it when it debuts on November 17th, as Warner Bros. Discovery announced yesterday.
Maybe the movie is a decade late, as Charles said in his review. But as a person who’s always fallen more on the DC side of the fence, this bit from his review’s opening paragraph has me looking forward to finally seeing it, anyway:
Blue Beetle feels like the end result of a creative team thoughtfully executing a plan to replicate certain elements of what’s made rival studio Marvel’s films so successful — and not just Warner Bros. clumsily trying to play catch-up.
Loki’s season 2 finale dug deep to find meaning in all of Marvel’s madness
Loki’s second season goes out with a big, existential bang that gives the god of mischief a glorious but confusing new purpose at the center of Marvel’s multiverse.
