Steam payments available through cash kiosks in Russia

Just a few weeks after announcing it would accept the ruble as payment, Valve is planning to enable cash payments to Steam accounts through kiosks around Russia. Through a partnership with Xsolla, who specializes in integrated payment solutions around the globe, Russian gamers will be able to stop at one of over 450,000 payment kiosks to add funds to their Steam Account Wallets. As Russians live in a heavily cash-based society (some 60 percent of households don't have a bank account), this should help Steam increase the number of users who can conveniently access its games. Of course, curbing piracy could be a driver in this deployment as well — Steam's streamlined, legal purchase process may help keep gamers from buying pirated games
