Xbox owners who use internet service provider Time Warner might have issues connecting to Xbox live, according to a recent update on the website.

The problem does not seem to affect all users, and no reason has been given for the outage. The update reads as follows:

"If you're having issues connecting to Xbox LIVE and are using the Time Warner ISP, thank you for being patient and sticking with us while we work out the problem. Rest assured we are still working hard alongside Time Warner to fix it as quickly as we can."

According to Kotaku, the outage began yesterday and has been in effect for over 24 hours, with both services claiming the problem is not on their end.

We have contacted Xbox Live representatives for comment and will update the story as more information becomes available.

Update: "We are aware of the issue, and actively working on it," said Xbox Team member Larry Hryb.

According to another source familiar with the matter, Time Warner users aren't the only ones affected.

"Most ISP issues are resolved within 24 hours," said the source. "It's not just Time Warner. Road Runner and Brighthouse are having issues too."

Setting a manual IP address and DNS settings will fix the issue for some users. For others, information on the make and model of routers will have to be sent off to network engineers working with Time Warner.

The source also informed us that there is no estimate on when the issue will be resolved.

Update 2: The Xbox Live support site reports that the following platforms are still experiencing difficulties: Create.msdn.com, games for Windows LIVE, the Xbox 360 console, Xbox.com, Zune's PC client, and Zune.net.

Users on these websites or platforms may experience problems with billing transactions including the purchase of premium content such as Xbox Live Gold membership, renewal and recovery of accounts, and purchasing or redeeming Microsoft Points.

Zune, Xbox Live Marketplace, and the Matchmaking feature have resumed service.

Microsoft is continuing to work with Time Warner on resolving the issue.

Update 3: Xbox Live service has been restored on most platforms. Xbox Live users are still unable to login to Xbox.com on Windows Phones or computers.
