Resident Evil 2

The new Resident Evil 2, Capcom’s 2019 remake of the 1998 horror masterpiece, is now available, and if you’re ordering it on PC, you can get the game at a discount.

Updated 12:37PM ET, February 11th: Updated to reflect that this deal is now over. We hope that you were able to save some money on RE2.

We’ve partnered with Fanatical, an online storefront for Steam PC codes, to offer readers of The Verge a special discount. You can get the base game for $45 (usually $59.99), and you can score even bigger savings on the deluxe edition of the game, which is just $52.49 (usually $69.99), thanks to the exclusive deal.

In terms of what makes the deluxe edition special, you’ll have access to different in-game costumes and weapons for both Leon and Claire, and you can switch between the original and the modernized soundtracks on the fly. The picture below lays out everything included in the deluxe edition.

The Verge’s Sam Byford recently reviewed Resident Evil 2 and said that it’s “a satisfying mix of RE4 and RE7.” For those who don’t realize that this statement equates to the RE2 remake being extremely good, here’s a bit more from Sam:

“Capcom has kept just the right amount of retro appeal and nostalgia within the framework of what is ultimately a modern, big-budget blockbuster, and the result captures the spirit of the original without being bound by it. This is, without question, one of the scariest Resident Evil games yet”
