GoPro announced the HD Hero2 today, an update to the popular HD Hero. The body remains unchanged, meaning that all existing mounts and accessories are still compatible, but the update brings a new 11-megapixel sensor for improved stills, along with twice the processing power. This speed boost allows 10fps burst shooting along with remote control and internet streaming via the optional WiFi BacPac – a set of features that goes head-to-head with the popular Contour HD. The HD Hero2 is shipping today at $299 with a variety of mounts, while the WiFi BacPac is expected early next year.
GoPro is also cutting the price of the original HD Hero, which is now available for $199.99-$239.99, depending on the mount package.
