Sony's A77 SLT camera just got its v1.04 firmware upgrade posted to the maker's Japanese website. Details are light on exactly what functionality it adds, though, as the release notes simply make vague promises of "image quality, response and usability improvements." More specifically, the update also promises distortion correction for two further Alpha mount lenses — DT 16-105mm and Vario-Sonnar DT 16-80mm owners, it's your lucky day. The update is only available on Sony's Japanese site, for now, though we've installed cross-region firmware on various Sony cameras without issue before. In any case, we'd expect the update to be posted globally very soon.
