Nexus 4 wireless charging orb finally selling through Google Play for $59.99

via puu.sh

The elusive Nexus 4 wireless charging orb — one of the most striking features of Google's Android flagship — is finally on sale through Google Play, a few months after the phone's launch. It's currently selling for $59.99 in the US, with shipping times quoted as around a week; we're not yet sure of overall international availability. The Nexus 4 itself has only recently come back in stock on the Play Store, after Google apparently massively underestimated initial demand, so this is fairly good timing. We've also seen longer delays on some other Google accessories, like the Nexus 7's dock. The Nexus 4 orb recalls the now-discontinued Palm Touchstone, and Nokia's Lumia 920 has also incorporated wireless charging based on the Qi standard.

US only it seems. “Not available for sale at this time” in Canada, but at least it is listed

Same in the UK

I want a bumper :’(

I want a better bumper. Mine is busted. It’s really weak at the bottom near the plug. I guess I fiddled with it too much, and it weakened the metal strap that goes around the bottom.

Get the $10 one from Amazon by poetic. They had issues earlier in which the rubber part came apart the plastic part. But after I emailed them, they sent a new one (free) which has solved the problems.

Thanks. I’ll look into that.

Thats the one I ended up getting because I got tired of waiting. Very satisfied with it and it ended up saving me 10 bucks.

Buy a better bumper because better bumpers bump better.

Ba-dum BUMP!

As well as in Germany

We can’t buy anything else than apps in our Google Play in The Netherlands lol. So I guess it won’t come any time soon.

Yeah, I hope they will bring play devices to The Netherlands.

I still prefer my Galaxy Nexus over the Nexus 4. I wish they sticked with Amoled. Now I’m looking forward to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4

The blacks are obviously better, but other than that I think the Nexus 4 display is far better.

We’ve also got the LCD3 technology to look forward to.

I miss true red. :(

I can’t think of any advantage AMOLED has over ICD except for blacks. I know AMOLED can use less battery if you keep everything black, but that does not show off the display.

I always had issues with colors on my fascinate and galaxy nexus also. Some phones had white that was like tannish color and the rest the white was just really blue.

CM and CM based ROM’s allowed you tweak the colors. My Nexus 1 and my Sprint GS2 was too yellow and too blue and I was able to dial the color temperatures back so they looked better.

less battery consumption with darker images on the screen is a huge advantage.

true blacks don’t show off the display? are you kidding me? that’s like saying miles davis sucks because he didn’t play the trumpet enough on his albums.

AMOLED burns in the screen much better than lcd…. I can still see my Waze screen icons even when browsing the net….

I couldn’t wait to get off the awful Galaxy Nexus screen.

Pentile is crap. Samsung has only ever used a RGB matrix on an AMOLED display on the SGS2. Although I won’t get it, they can impress me with such a display on the S4 — if they’re smart.

The fuzzyled display on my Gnex was the single most disappointing thing about it.

Maybe if Samsung had actually supported the device Id be with you but right now the overblown display and blacker blacks are the only positive things I can say about the GNex.

So far, as an OEM, LG is far superior as a Nexus partner. They have already sold more accessories with the bumper than Samsung has for all of their Nexus devices (they only had the pogo accessories avalable for a short while and for GSM only and still jack for the Nexus 10).
