The next version of Android will indeed be called "KitKat," and PR teams at both companies have clearly been working overtime in preparation for today's surprise announcement. KitKat's Google+ page has already received a makeover placing the chocolate-covered Android mascot front and center, but that's not all. The Google / KitKat allegiance has also produced a new YouTube clip poking fun at Apple's well-known product introduction videos. Instead of Jonathan Ive guiding you through the ins and outs of new hardware from Cupertino, we instead find "Chief Breaks Officer" Chris Catlin extolling the virtues and design principles that go into producing junk food.
"Every corner, every edge, every finger of every bar has been carefully considered and crafted to create a beautifully immersive and multi-sensory experience," he says. "And it really does taste as good as it looks." Parodying Apple's presentation style isn't exactly a novel idea these days, and some of the lines here are cringe-worthy. Still, it's not every day you see the salvos coming from a confectionery maker — even if it's all an obvious PR ploy.

Man, everything about this announcement shows just how some people are way too serious. Look, this is good for both sides, no money changed hands, and both sides are having a laugh over it. Some people take life way too seriously.

I dont think that it is necessarily that some people are way too serious, instead it seems more likely that the internet has a unique tendency of finding anything possible to moan about and then engage in a full out fanboy warfare.
Anyways, if one can ignore this specific subset of people/trolls, then i can guarantee the enjoyment of these tasty laughs wont be broken :)

I really don’t see how it’s so offensive that people are going crazy over it. It’s cute and I thought this was hilarious :) Sometimes, people need to just sit back, and laugh.

I don’t really care for any Apple vs Google playground arguments but it really wasn’t hilarious. The guy was badly reading from an autocue, stumbled over words and had nothing about him.
If you’re going to parody something at least make it entertaining. The graphics were nice and I liked the 2 and 4 mega-bites part but hilarious – not by a long way. Was a bit cringe worthy really.

You must feel really great about not laughing at something AND taking the time of your busy schedule to tell us all how much you didn’t laugh. Have a gold star.

. . . and that’s the point. I didn’t laugh but the comment was directed at someone who found it “hilarious” when it wasn’t. But thanks for the sarcasm, and the gold star. Have a nice day – or maybe a KitKat. =)

You must not read comment sections very much.

I’m an android fan and felt it was kind of… dorky.

I guess you’re no marketer. This is brilliant. When else are you going to get hudreds of millions of people to mention kitkat everytime you talk about android.

Actually the clip reminds me of mark Shuttleworth (Ubuntu Edge):

By skyworxx on 09.03.13 3:53pm
That’s exactly what I was thinking lol. The slow, methodical presentation with the accent made me think of Shuttleworth.
By goaliedude3919 on 09.03.13 4:25pm
Shuttleworth should be funny and irritating to watch. But somehow he isn’t – he’s really damn motivating.

Hmm someone can’t tell the difference between a British and a South African accent…

… like they’re not the same!

Brilliant ad. Clearly, Nestle’s ad department had been waiting for this and was begging google to let them in on it.

“Diamond sharp bevels.”
“History repeats itself with every bar.”
These are absolutely brilliant digs.
