PewDiePie is starring in a new game about being a YouTube star

YouTube’s biggest name is going to star in a game about streaming games on YouTube. Today PewDiePie revealed a new game called Tuber Simulator, that puts players in the role of a budding video game streamer. It’s being developed by Outermind, the Montreal-based studio behind PewDiePie’s previous foray into games, Legend of the Brofist.

Unfortunately, we don’t know much about the game yet, but prior to the official announcement PewDiePie tweeted out a handful of images that give an idea of what Tuber Simulator will be like. It sports an isometric, pixelated look reminiscent Japanese studio Kairosoft, best known for quirky simulators like Game Dev Story. As in those games, it appears you’ll be able to build your career from a small time, little-known YouTuber, up to a PewDiePie-level celebrity. You can also make your desk look like a giant cat if you want.

No release date or platforms have been announced just yet.

No offense to PewDiePie or his fans, but what-in-the-fuck-ever.

I honestly do not understand his appeal. I’ve watched a few of his videos and I find him really annoying. But good for him, I guess?

Another take on the same concept, Youtubers Life:

"Youtubers Life is the ultimate life simulation/tycoon videogame in which you can become the world’s greatest video blogger in history. Edit videos, expand the amount of fans and turn yourself into a wealthy fellow."

Still in Early Access on Steam.

Just the other day a co-worker told me that her little niece (age 8) replied "vlogger" when asked what she wants to be when she grows up.

So the same way we dreamed of being astronauts and secret agents, does this game encapsulate the wants and dreams of younger millenials?

No worse than "movie star" or "singer" or "basketball player." Kids have always wanted to turn fun hobbies into glamorous jobs.

Sure, sure. I wasn’t going for old grumpy anti-youtuber. Just wondering

I wish this was a potato simulator
