True. Pity they do not understand the Apple Watch.

I know, I love my Apple Watch, and now with WatchOS3 on it, the issues, or the Interface things I wasn’t a fan of, the slowness of App loading, etc are gone! I just got it installed this morning and I’m really liking what I see so far and a big of the new features in 3rd party Apps like the great "HeartWatch" app, which keeps track of your heart rate and a sleep tracker.
The Original Apple watch is water resistant up to a point. Apple doesn’t advertise it, but even Tim Cook says he showers with his. I know people swimming with theirs and it’s fine. Sometimes the speaker doesn’t work right for a bit as it has water still in it. Something the new Series 2 watches spit out. 50 Meters on them is 164 feet? A deep swimming pool is maybe 8-10 feet. I think you’re pretty safe.
How many Jog or go out with no phone on them? How about if there’s a emergency back at home? How about you’re in a emergency yourself? No phone? Kind of a problem, which is why I don’t see having no GPS as a issue. GPS on the phone is a battery hog, so it’s really no different on the Apple Watch.
I think if you already have a Apple Watch, there’s really no need to upgrade unless you’re one that wants GPS and runs with the phone. You can have up to 10 App’s already loaded up on the watch. They start right up once again. WatchOS3 is a huge update. Apple really took what they learned after the Original Apple Watch all this time. Heard people’s complaints and really addressed issues people have had.
As for screen brightness. I’ve had mine set to only half. and it’s more then bright. I always see it just fine and clearly. I guess if the sun light is blasting right at it, you wouldn’t, but that’s never been a issue for me. So making the new ones even brighter?!?! Are people blind?

I disagree with your point of excluding the phone. When I go to the gym I hate having to lug my phone around and take it out of my pocket for certain exercises, since it will inevitably fall on the floor if I don’t. Now that there are watches with music, bluetooth, and apps for logging workouts and authenticating at the gym, I don’t know why you’d want your phone with you still. I guess not being a family man, emergencies may not concern me as much.
I’m just waiting for a decent piece of hardware to come out. The watches just don’t fit my standards for a $150+. If the Android OEMs will ever come out with an e-color display like Pebble, then I’ll jump in. A Pebble Round with less bezel is the dream device.

"pebble round with less bezel is the dream device"
ya, it really would. I returned mine sadly cause of that, but also i had battery issues with it. It felt really nice to wear though. In the end, wasn’t worth the money though.
Also, if apple watch could have the same battery life as a pebble anything, damn, i would pick that up in an instant too.

Why would you actively leave your phone at home before you go to the gym? That’s like leaving your phone at home before going to the movies or to work or a restaurant. There are so many things you still need your phone for on the way to gym, coming back from gym and even at the gym. And don’t gyms have areas with lockers for wallets and clothing and keys. I bet if you open every locker in a gym, you will find a phone in it. Those people without Apple Watches cannot communicate with their phones in lockers but you could so I don’t see the downside. If you’re tired of pulling your phone out during workout, then don’t. Apple Watch doesn’t force you to do so.

I would leave it in my car. Why would I want a large phone swinging around in my pocket for no added benefit? Phones are uncomfortable to carry in basketball shorts. Taking the added time to leave it in a locker seems silly when I can just lock it in my car.

You still cannot change watch faces, even with the latest watchOS 3. If I want Nike or Hermes watch faces, then I have to buy a new Apple watch. That is just ridiculous, especially when other smart watches allow you to change or add any watch that you want.
Not to mention there is still no option to leave the watch face on. So everyone’s Apple watch face is still off for most of its life.

I passed on a Pebble Round for the same reason and the Pebble Steel wasn’t available at the local shop. I simply couldn’t deal with the bezel. I’m still running a LG Urbane until I find something worth upgrading to.

Yep, I’m with you. I’ll still bring my phone to the gym, but once I have my wireless Erato headphones it will no longer leave my bag while I’m there. And if the Apple Watch has Spotify integration, I won’t even carry my phone when I walk down to the park/track for a run. I don’t live my entire life with the expectation of an emergency, especially since there are only a handful of them that can occur at any given time in which I could do anything anyway.

I wonder how many times they had to drop it to get that shot of it hitting the water to get the angle and timing right!
By Indefinite Implosion on 09.14.16 7:13am
There’s always the option in many cameras to take multiple photos in quick succession
By Alexandr on 09.14.16 7:33am
I know, I have a DSLR. I was more referring to the angle it’s falling at in combination with getting the timing right.
By Indefinite Implosion on 09.14.16 8:14am
some people are just recording 4k and pulling a frame from that.

I was truly impressed with the iPhone 7 photos. Damn…

I was about to post the same thing. I almost watch the review videos just for the videography, it’s so slick it’s almost like an advert for the product. If it wasn’t for the justified criticisms of the product in the review or you mute the sound, one would never know!

Personally I see more hassle than utility with some uses of such a watch. Just too much gadget and fiddling for otherwise simple and routine tasks that don’t really need to be aided by a smartwatch.
By MindYourMind on 09.14.16 6:05am
As an Apple watch owner I agree, but there are those moments with the watch that make it totally worth it.
Examples:
I was changing the oil in my car when my phone rang, except it was inside the house charging, so I picked up a very important call through the watch.
Other case is when I was a client meeting and it was Thursday Night football and I wanted to check the score without seeming like a teenager, so I gradually glanced at the score through the watch.
Favorite one is when I left my phone at the food court at the mall and didn’t know except I glanced at the time and it had the phone disconnected symbol, frantic shock later I got my phone.
But those stories aside most of the time it doesn’t do much. And what it does is okay.
By Omnimoak on 09.14.16 9:06am
Aren’t all these enough to justify the cost and to prove how useful a smart watch can be ? even when those moments are so rare? In my opinion it is but as I don’t own yet an Apple watch I genuinely curious about owners’ opinions, like yours.
By TeoCiontu on 09.14.16 10:40am
The phone call one is nice, but most of the time I’d think people would make sure to have a phone nearby when expecting an important call.
Football – sure, it’s worth it if you’re really into sports and just can’t wait. I can wait, so no biggy for me.
Forgetting your phone on the table? People that don’t have a smartwatch generally use their phone for checking the time, and I’m sure you’d notice it was missing if you reached for it and it wasn’t there.
Long story short – these are cool use-cases, but they only fit a particular type of person. The smartwatches of today aren’t a one-size-fits-all, but they sure are great for some people.
By lusional on 09.14.16 12:04pm
this is bull everyone HUMAN BEING should care about health and fitness and these as is devices already do a great job of helping to keep you in touch with what is going on with your body and remind you to move. Alerts and two way communication is also great. No one NEEDS a smart watch just like no one NEEDS a smart phone – but it sure makes things easier.
I don’t understand those who try to argue that these devices do no need to exist because that person does not see a need for it. Often there arguments are stretches to try and paint these deices as absolutely useless for the masses when in reality they are great for the masses and serve several purposes.
At one point the computer was or primary screen we computed on. As the internet become more ubiquitous a secondary screen that you were able to "sync" and take with you was useful. As time went on that portable device that we had to sync our information with was able to connected to the internet it slowly become the primary computing device we depend on and use on a daily bases. Its only a normal evolution for that computing device to also need a secondary screen.
