Daniel Craig confirms return as James Bond

After much rumors and speculation, Daniel Craig has confirmed he will return to play James Bond once more.

During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Tuesday night, Colbert commented that the actor had been cagey about whether or not he would reprise the role. In response, Craig said: “I’ve been rather coy but I kind of felt like if I should speak the truth I should speak the truth to you.” Colbert replied, “Well we could use some good news here. Daniel Craig, will you return as James Bond?” The British actor replied simply “yes,” to cheers from the crowd.

Craig has apparently had a bit of a change of heart. When asked in 2015 whether or not he would play Bond again, he replied: “Now? I’d rather … slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”

It will be the British actor’s fifth Bond film, after Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre. The next instalment will be the 25th in the franchise, and is due to be released in US cinemas on November 8, 2019. Asked if it would be his last run as the celebrated spy, Craig said, “I think this is it, I just want to go out on a high note, and I can’t wait.”

Can we have something like Casino Royale once again ?
Those "you died scratching my balls" and " Do i look like i give a darn" kind of thing
The last 2 movies are almost unwatchable. (to me)

ps. I am ok with the silly Destron organization stuff & nerdy Q but it not really suit Daniel Craig.(Layer Cake) Just wait for the next Bond and you can have your cliche Bond back. Deal?

Agreed, Sky & Spec were good but they don’t compare to CR. Give us something similar!

The action scene and camera works are top notch in both Sky & Spec but they turn it in to Steven Seagal’s stuff.

I’m so glad that quantum wasn’t even mentioned in this discussion (still trying to forget they even made that movie)

Thanks for reminding, lol.

It doesn’t matter who’s playing Bond if the script is crap, Casino Royale ranks as one of my favourite Bond films but the rest with Craig among the worst (does anyone even remember what happened in QOS?).

If they can’t do it right they shouldn’t keep running the series into the ground.

Something about water, baddies were charging like £2 for a bottle of San Pelegrino or something, and the 5’6", 70kg when wet bad guy kicked seven bells out of Bond at the end.

"Something about water" was going to be my response too.

In Bolivia, first you get the water, then you get the power, then you get the women

I distinctly remember something about solar panels as well.

I am sorry what makes Casino Royale so good? I think this is just another one those internet things where they like one thing, and brush off the rest.

In the same boat. Skyfall is my fave of his Bond adventures with Casino Royale behind that and the other 2…well… a good amount below that.

Casino Royale mostly gets the treatment it does because it was a big change for Bond. Gritty had been done before, but had been ground into the dust by the Brosnan films. CR had top-notch cinematography, and excellent fight choreography inspired by more modern franchises like Bourne. It was also had some damn good actors, a serious departure from the preceding films.

CR was a gorgeous movie, and the acting was very good, but the story itself doesn’t hold up to scrutiny and the poker is simply bad. It’s remembered well because it was a far sight better than the Brosnan films it was compared to.

Good. I’m a big fan of Craig and I don’t think his potential replacements are viable yet.

Christopher Nolan / Tom Hardy trilogy to follow.

Christopher Nolan yes, Tom Hardy eh

Is Idris Elba that booked that he can’t play bond ?

My main issue with Idris Elba is that he doesn’t look anywhere near as good without a beard and Bond cannot have a beard (unless he’s had a breakdown or been held captive by the North Koreans).

Holy shit. I guess beards really are male versions of makeup.

James Damore reported to be pleased by this decision.

Great to hear him reprising the role.

Hopefully it’ll be better than the Home Alone / Scoobydoo one… Skyfall?

You mean the one that spent 85% of the time debating whether espionage had a place in the modern world, and a government hearing with M was actually a major plot point? That one was my favorite!

Incidentally, my favorite part about Star Wars was the Phantom Menace trade dispute senate scenes.

a government hearing with M was actually a major plot point

The shootout in the hearing room was legitimately one of my favorite Daniel Craig Bond scenes. Everyone hiding behind chairs and under desks. Bond rolls up, shoots a fire extinguisher for cover and just steps out standing up straight not even flinching. Holy shit that was badass.

Yeah, it was pretty cool. The action scenes were actually pretty good althroughout.

I just can’t get over the lame, mopey plot though.
