Fire Emblem: Three Houses comes to the Switch in 2019

It’s been over a year and a half since Nintendo first announced that a full-fledged Fire Emblem game would be coming to the Switch, and now we’ve got some more details with the first trailer for Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Unlike the spinoff Fire Emblem: Warriors, which was released on the Switch last year, Three Houses is a proper Fire Emblem game, with the top-down strategic gameplay that the series is known for. It’s also the first time that a game in the main series has been released for one of Nintendo’s home consoles since Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn in 2007.

Three Houses looks incredible too, with actual combat sequences that draw on the same animated style of the cutscenes and character art instead of the rough, blocky polygons that marred the 3DS titles.

Nintendo had originally promised that the Switch Fire Emblem game would be out in 2018, but it seems that that release date has slipped a bit: Fire Emblem: Three Kingdoms will be out sometime in Spring 2019.
