Misfit delays Vapor smartwatch release until October

Misfit announced its Vapor smartwatch at CES earlier this year with the promise of shipping it this summer with Android Wear as its operating system. The company now says the watch will ship in October, a month or so after summer ends, a slight delay from its initial timeline. Nothing else about the watch has changed.

It'll still feature a 1.39-inch AMOLED touchscreen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 processor, 4GB of memory, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, and water resistance up to 50 meters. It'll also work with Google Assistant through Android Wear and the watch's built-in microphone. It'll cost $199.

The Vapor looks like it could fill the circular smartwatch void left behind by Pebble. Fitbit acquired Pebble and launched its new Ionic smartwatch this week, but to my dismay at least, it looks just like a Fitbit Blaze with its large, square display. The Vapor at least tries to stay circular, although the watch still looks bulky compared to the thin, matte Pebble Time Round display.
