The Australian sales ban on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be extended by one more week so the Australian High Court can hear Apple's request to appeal the court decision it lost just a few days ago. The ban had originally been scheduled to end at 4pm local time on Friday, but will now remain in effect until December 9th. While customers will have to continue to wait, this isn't an indicator of future legal success on Apple's part, but rather a simple logistical decision, providing the court more time to hear Cupertino's application for special leave to appeal. After hearing the application, the High Court can either grant Apple the right to appeal, continuing the injunction, or terminate the application outright.

Samsung and Apple's patent and design infringement battles have stretched across the globe, with sales stopped in multiple countries at this point. Depending on the outcome next week, however, Australian customers may finally have the chance to buy the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in time for the holidays. The final hearing on the Australian case is scheduled for next year.
