OLED TVs, whether produced by Samsung, LG, or Sony, have been the perpetual darling of consumer electronics trade shows, however they have yet to make the leap from the exhibition floor to retail shelf space.
LG stole our hearts at CES this year with its amazing 55-inch OLED TV and now it's about to make a play for our wallets too. The Korean company has announced, as reported by Maeli Business, that it'll host another big launch event for its superb HDTV at the Cannes Film Festival, taking place in France during May this year, before releasing the OLED TVs at an estimated price of 9 million Korean won.
A report claiming LG Display will start mass production of its large OLED panels in July surfaced earlier today, and we've since learned directly from LG that the new 55-inch OLED TVs "will start rolling out sometime in the second half of 2012."
It's real, people! LG's mythical 55-inch OLED TV was just unveiled here at CES 2012, and honestly, it's even more amazing than the words "55-inch OLED" would lead you to believe.
