NTT Docomo's potential partnership with Samsung and four other companies to manufacturer LTE semiconductors is apparently dead because the companies could not come to an agreement by the end of March as they previously had planned.
NEC, Docomo, Panasonic Mobile, and Fujitsu have developed a new wireless modem technology capable of transmissions over GSM, WCDMA, HSPA+, and LTE. Testing of the technology is complete, and the companies are looking to sell it both in Japan and abroad.
Images and specs of three of NEC's upcoming handsets were posted on Japanese tech site Gadget Tsushin. While one has a folding design, all three feature Android 4.0 and LTE.
NEC Corporation says it has set a new record for long-distance "optical superchannel" terabit communication.
NEC has a new display (the MultiSync LCD-EA243WM) in Japan that offers many eco-friendly features. It has a motion sensor and it monitors its carbon dioxide output.
NEC is developing "super-resolution" camera technologies that will allow minute details to be maintained even when images are blown up to four times the resolution. NEC claims that it can create a super-resolution image from a single photo, unlike current technology which requires multiple sequential video frames.
