Sigma's DP1 Merrill compact will be available mid-September for $999. Announced at the same time as the DP2 Merrill, the DP1 has a shorter, 28-millimeter-equivalent lens.
We got a look at Sigma's DP2 Merrill fixed focal length compact. The new camera features a 15.3-megapixel Foveon X3 sensor and a fixed-length 30mm (45mm equivalent) f2.8 lens.
Sigma has announced a refresh to its DP1 and DP2 compact cameras, adding the company's flagship Foveon X3 sensor and the commemorative "Merrill" name to both.
The SD1's price has been dropped by over 50 percent to $3,300 due to "new efficiencies in the camera's production." The camera has also been renamed the SD1 Merrill in honor of the co-creator of the Foveon X3 sensor, Richard Merrill.
