Nintendo's Game & Watch was the company's first international success that launched Nintendo into the first real gaming industry leader in the early 1980's. Each device was sold as a separate game, with some devices even featuring a double LCD screen, which in time greatly influenced the modern Nintendo DS. The Game & Watch also included an alarm and clock where the latter part of the name, Watch, was derived from. All together the Game & Watch's specifications varied slightly throughout it's lifespan, but for the most part featured a 2-inch screen, D-pad controls and extremely long lasting "watch batteries." With the start up of classics such as Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, Zelda and many other famous titles, the Game & Watch will always be remembered as a major contribution to the foundation of the modern gaming industry.
