Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13

Verge Review

In this first run of Windows 8 devices, manufacturers are essentially throwing things against the wall to see what sticks. We've seen every size, every form factor, every direction and angle of rotation — companies are trying desperately to figure out the best way to take advantage of everything Windows 8 can do. Even Lenovo's lineup is all over the place. There's the Lynx convertible, which transforms from laptop to tablet. The Twist rotates and folds, and looks like the X Series tablets...

I purchased the IdeaPad Yoga on launch day and have fallen completely in love with it. If you want a tablet, the Yoga is probably not what you're looking for. However, if you're looking for a decent ultrabook with some added features, the Yoga will certainly impress.

Flipping the screen over and using the device as a tablet works wonders when you're surfing the web or watching videos. It makes the content feel more engaging and the 13-inch screen is definitely more immersive than a standard 10-inch tablet.

    To be brief...

    1. This laptop has great build quality. I know that term is being thrown around lately, but it feels like it's expensive(which it kinda is).

    2. The ability to flip the screen over is awesome for me. It's perfect if I want to watch a movie/youtube or look through pictures. I can see how others may not like it, but that is why there are so many options for your Windows 8 hardware. For me, it's great.

    3. Battery life is decent. I get about a full day with quite a bit of usage(mainly web browsing). In my opinion batteries should last way longer than a day, but this battery is good.

4.Performance is great. I have had no problems with lag but I have had issues with swiping in from the right and left. Maybe I just need to get used to it, but I have to swipe a few times sometimes.

Overall: I think it is a great example of what a Windows 8 laptop should be. It gives you everything you are familiar with and more. Great build quality, great screen, good battery, and exciting new operating system.
