A string of PS Vita overheating incidents in Japan and overseas has prompted an investigation in Japan, but Sony maintains that the cause isn’t a defect, chalking it up to user error.
Sony's Music Unlimited service went live in Japan today with an app that's available for Android, iOS, PS Vita, PlayStation 3, Mac, and PC.
Hulu Plus and Crackle will be available on the PS Vita "soon."
The Facebook app for the PS Vita has been upgraded to version 1.01. The changes include the option to upload and tag photos from the portable game console to the News Feed or a friend's Wall. There are also new language options and support for Facebook Pages.
Sony has announced, released, and withdrawn the next firmware update for the PS Vita in the space of a day. Version 1.65 of the handheld console's software was set to make some minor usability tweaks, but was pulled following a technical fault.
Sony has taken to removing PSP titles from the PlayStation Store in an attempt to close security holes in the PS Vita. The compromised titles, Motorstorm: Arctic Edge and Everybody's Tennis, can be used to run hacker Wololo's Vita Half-Byte Loader (VHBL), which can execute unsigned homebrew code.
PS3 to gain photo and video editing: PlayMemories Studio hits Japanese PlayStation Store on March 29th
Sony's PlayMemories Studio app for the PS3 is being released on March 29th in Japan. The application allows PlayStation 3 users to view, edit, and share photos and videos.
Video game sales are down again in February, with a 20 percent drop compared to the same time last year.
Streaming music service Sony Music Unlimited has just added support for the PS Vita as well as offline playback for the phone version of its Android app.
Facebook has returned to the Playstation Vita Store after a week-long hiatus where Sony fixed a bug that wouldn't let users log in.
