Logitech is officially out of the Google TV game -- as part of its Q3 2012 fiscal-year results, the company announced that it was officially sold out of the ill-fated Logitech Revue box.
Some Logitech Revue Google TV boxes shipped with corrupted firmware, preventing consumers from being able to set up their devices. The only solution is to have the Revue replaced.
SlingBox released its SlingPlayer app for Google TV today. It's designed for the Logitech Revue, but works well with Sony's Google TV-enabled televisions and Blu-ray player as well.
A new study of 5,000 people across the US and Europe by Strategy Analytics found that sales of the internet-enabled set-top boxes more than doubled this year to approximately 12 million units worldwide.
Logitech pulled no punches in its description of how badly the Revue Google TV set top box hurt the company, describing it as a "mistake" and adding that it will not be producing a followup product until Google TV can gain more success in the market.
