Today, HTC surprised us and revealed Valve's virtual reality headset. It's called the Vive (ew), and it looks sort of like an Oculus Rift that got into a fight with with a crowbar. The Verge will get a chance to see it this week in San Fransisco at the Game Developers Conference, but I already know the perfect game for it: Ricochet.

Ricochet is one of the classic original mods Valve made for Half-Life, and it's been around for 15 years. It's basically American Gladiator in the style of Tron, where blocky dudes with flamboyant neon discs jump around on platforms and try to knock each other into an infinite abyss of madness. And because it's from the year 2000, it looks like VR.

It's basically the perfect game for virtual reality, if you like twitchy fast-paced action and the guarantee that you will throw up.
Thing is, it wouldn't even be crazy for Valve to make a sequel to this game. It's a tiny one-note experience that could probably be made in a weekend. And Valve has even joked about bringing it back recently. Last year for April Fool's Day, the company released a fake trailer for "Ricochet 2: Electric Boogaloo."

While I have you Valve, one more thing. Between you and HTC, I don't know who was in charge of naming your new virtual reality headset, but it's terrible. It only took me the five minutes of writing this to think of a better one. How about the Ricochet?
