How did we get here?

When I was a kid, "thirst" was not a phrase used to describe one's desire for attention on social media channels. ("Social media channels" wasn't a phrase, either.) Timothy Dalton was James Bond for some reason. And a movie trailer was a movie trailer.

We've strayed perilously far from those simple times.

I don't know what to call this latest nugget of promotion from the 007 camp, apart from a whirlwind of thirst with no known center. The deeper you get, the more teasers you find. Teasers on teasers. Teasers for days.

Seriously — this is quite literally a teaser for a teaser for a poster. We haven't even mentioned a trailer yet, much less a teaser for said trailer. (And what about the movie itself? Ha... slow down, champ!)

For what it's worth, Spectre's extraordinary thirst isn't new: there was a streamed press conference last year to reveal the name of the film. And in general, the industry has embraced teaserception wholeheartedly.

But the real tragedy of this situation is that I've been sucked into this machine. I can't wait for tomorrow.
