Imaging studies The first step in diagnosing the brain injury is to get an MRI of the brain. The problem with mild brain injury' cases is that often the client does not appear in our office until some time after the injury has occurred and a doctor is involved. Once the individual suspects carbon monoxide, usually on being told by the gas company, this person then goes to a general practitioner complaining of carbon monoxide poisoning and problems thinking and remembering. So the doctor rightly sends the patient for an MRI I of the brain. However, a lack of knowl- J edge of the effects of chronic as opposed to acute carbon monoxide poisoning will lead the doctor to send the patient for the typical 1.5 Tesla MRI.
