Until the screen technologies are no longer a massive compromise, these are an absolute non-starter.
Foldables are the phone equivalent of a McMansion. They technically include "more", but they’re just not worth it.

There’s an enormous market for dedicated workstations, and that market is happy to pay a premium.

I wish they had developed a new platform for this.
No matter how good it looks, there would always be that nagging itch reminding me of it’s foundation in mid-2000s bloat

Maybe I’m old, but boy howdy have I tried to stop Uber from sending me promos and offers.
But they intentionally have their notifications spread across multiple pages and sub-pages, browser popups, and even entirely separate apps if your using Eats.
Which I can only assume is to prevent people like myself (and the author) from easily disabling them.
Hence, the issue.

"I’m pointing out an issue that’s become prevalent, one that shouldn’t be an issue in the first place"
I shouldn’t have to disable tracking and advertising popups from Uber or freaking 8BallPool.
I shouldn’t be dealing with advertising on my personal device while I’m out for a walk, period.

I give it five years before more money is made by robot vacuums collecting ad data than selling hardware.
The only valuable asset anymore is personal data.

Why is it exactly that private companies are allowed to beta test technology on public roads?

Nah
We need more dark/gritty musicals (All That Jazz!) and fewer dark/ gritty DC superhero movies.
