As rarely as I ever notice the notch on the phone I think it is worth the trade off. It’s better than the other options of 1. No Web Cam, 2. Web cam down by the hinge, or 3. Bigger bezel along the top.

I used to not care about web cams but now that I’m doing zooms all the time I really notice the bad ones.

Most underrated feature of the full size home pod was the mic. I can talk to Siri from my kitchen across the living room and into the bedroom and she picks it up perfectly. My echo requires me to be looking directly at it when I speak.

Just set it to -40 and you are good.

If I had to guess, the Apple TV is more than up to the task (processing Siri requests), but it has no built in Mic and isn’t passively listening while in sleep mode. Here the thermostat is capturing the audio but it needs a powered up place to send it for the translation & processing.

Really just want a M1 27 inch iMac. My current iMac is pushing 6 years old now (still a surprisingly good machine for my use cases). I’d buy the 24 inch but I know the loss of screen real estate will irritate me.

I mean… switching the control panel back to the detailed view is the first thing I do on any windows computer. IDK why Microsoft insists on reinventing settings every few years.

Netflix could easily cover this suit by entering itself in the next Squid Games.

That is absolutely not true. Aside from the App Store (which you know… is a store) there are no ads in stock apps.

Feels night and day different in your hands. I’ve been wanting flat sides since my iPhone 5 (I skipped the 5s). I hated the rounded sides… especially the earlier ones. They were way to slippery without a case.

I feel like Nilay probably wanted to include it, and the staff had to talk him down now that it is missing from most phones. He’s probably pouting somewhere in Verge HQ right now.

Lightning was head and shoulders better than Micro USB. If all I were doing was charging my phone I think I’d still prefer lightning in a vacuums, but I’ve got enough USB C devices that it’s probably my preference. Even if the cords are a little chonkier. Definitely better for data transfer.

They did say a more detailed battery life update was on the way.

All that text and not a single complaint about the lack of a headphone jack. Is this even the Verge anymore?
