That price is SHEER BONKERS! I’ll use a little math to show why:
My current 325 watt panels fixed in place facing south at about 30% inclination generate about 1.5 kWH each per day annualized average. At our local rate of $0.10/kWH that’s $0.15 per day. This robot will increase that by 30% so it’s only an extra $0.045 per day. Assuming you do their 400 watt panel instead of my 325 ones that number comes up to $0.0553 per day. Yes, 5.53 pennies created by this robot per day. Divided by the $3,399 price that would only take 168 YEARS to recoup the cost of the robot.
This is INSANE! Sounds like a fun science experiment with NO real world economic benefit.

I agree, and would say this concept is harmful in a more broad sense. Both sides agree we’re too divided as a nation. Why implement policies that further increase that division?
Listing the social category of businesses or business owners carries loads of implicit ramifications. It heavily implies that these business should be favored over others, which by default means other businesses are to be avoided. When we start avoiding businesses based on their sexual orientation, creed, identity, race, gender, etc. – well, that’s objectively wrong. On the other side, it could be used by haters to target those businesses for vandalism or violence. Don’t be evil, Google. Remember?

Why the screen in the first place? We’ve had a family hub fridge since 2018, and we struggle to find actual uses for this tech. Live view inside fridge? Cool… we used it twice. Ring doorbell app showing porch video? Cool, but it keeps logging out – not worth logging back in every few days. I Heart Radio? Cool, but the speaker sounds terrible.
