Apple’s HomeKit has been closed except for Apple’s HomeKit ADK. Not to mention Apple’s MFi program is also a major hindrance as to why the number of Apple’s HomeKit supported devices is still very tiny in comparison, to both Google’s and Amazon’s number of supported smart home devices. Why do you think Apple wanted to join Matter in the first place? Try and remember if Apple’s HomeKit would have taken off, then Apple most likely would not have joined the Matter group. Apple’s is the company that looks for lock-in features, or ways to further lock down their customers. Google is the opposite of Apple

Your ignorant when it comes to facts, Google is the one that started developing Matter, and Google is the one that approached others about adopting Matter. Considering the fact that Google is the one that first developed the Specs.

JamesMarsh, Matter has been Google’s baby from day one, Amazon and many others got on board with Matter. It is Apple that resisted Matter, and it is Apple that is one of the last major companies to jump on board with Matter. 100% a fact!
