Jet setters will never be at a loss for words with Samsung Live Translate

Imagine a real-time translation service that reads street signs and menus through your camera, dictates live phone calls in your own tongue, and interprets a conversation on the screen while you’re speaking with someone face to face.

These are the abilities of Live Translate,* integrated in the latest Samsung Galaxy S26 phones and providing visual and spoken translations while on the go. From the get-go, it supports 20 languages, including regional variations, with more languages available to download. Whether you’re asking for tapas in Spain, ordering dim sum in Hong Kong while speaking Cantonese, or if you need to brush up on the finer distinctions between French and Quebecois French, Live Translate can handle nearly any travel scenario you encounter.

Say that you need to make or change a hotel reservation en route to a foreign destination, but neither you nor the front desk share the same language. When you activate Live Translate, you’ll be able to understand different languages no matter if you’re making a phone or a video call. During the call, tap Call Assist and then Live Translate, and the person on the other end of the line will get a notification that their voice is being translated.

Then, your phone will start translating for you in real time. A real-time translation will appear on your screen, and you’ll also be able to hear the translation throughout the conversation.

Customise the voice’s speed and pitch to understand what’s being said. You can also mute the original speaker’s voice to hear only the translation.

Support live calls and get translated texts displayed right on your phone, thanks to the power of Galaxy AI. Not only will it audibly translate what you say but it will also display a transcription in your original language, making communication more accessible to those from different linguistic backgrounds.

You can access it through the Galaxy S26’s Quick setting panel, then selecting the Interpreter app. Choose any of the supported languages and tap to turn on the microphone. The top part of the screen will show the language that your conversational partner will be speaking in, while the bottom will show the translation.

The Interpreter app can also help you make new friends in real life. If you’re sitting across from the person you’re talking to, you can flip the top half of the screen to face the speaker so that they can read what’s being translated. Not only will it display a transcription in your original language, but it will also provide a written translation in their language. It’s a great way to share a meal or a drink without letting a language barrier get in the way.

As you converse, Interpreter will begin recording and saving a transcription as it audibly translates what you say. Just by pressing the Play icon, you’ll be able to access or transcribe past conversations — a great way to remember overseas memories in just a few taps.

Live Translate is woven into the latest Samsung Galaxy S26, so even if you’re using other apps, you’ll be able to access AI-driven translation. This can be activated via Settings > Galaxy AI:
